Boulder Sunshine Fire Spans 100+ Acres, Forces Evacuations

Boulder firefighters are battling the wind this Sunday, March 19, as a fire rages in the Sunshine canyon area west of Boulder.
The Boulder Office of Emergency Management has been updating its followers with news on the evacuation process: as of this afternoon, over 1,000 homes have been evacuated.
Update on Evac Stats:
• 426 homes evacuated pre-dawn
• 836 homes remain on the pre-evac list (as a precaution)

According to Boulder OEM, there is no estimated time as of right now when evacuees may return to their homes.
Denver Post reported this morning that the fire was 20% contained, “but winds that were tame earlier are gusting, and the fire is now within a mile of downtown.” (Source)
The fire has spread over to 106 acres in size, and local crews are receiving aerial support from the Colorado National Guard.
