CSU and Stanley Hotel Team Up for BBQ Weekend in Estes Park

Colorado State University and The Historic Stanley Hotel announce the CSU BBQ weekend! It includes special hands-on demonstrations, BBQ culinary workshops with experts from around the country, as well as a two-day BBQ competition over Memorial Day Weekend and all are open to the public.

BBQ University

Starting May 24th, CSU will offer a two-day hands-on BBQ cooking workshop called CSU’s BBQ University hosted by the school’s top culinary experts and meat scientists. The fun and competition continue into the weekend with the launch of the 1st Annual Rocky Mountain BBQ Showdown – a 24 hour BBQ competition/party open to the public and hosted on the front lawn of the Stanley Hotel.

Students enrolled in the BBQ U will have the opportunity to stay overnight at the Stanley making it a truly immersive experience. During the day, students will work with BBQ experts from across the country to learn about meat selection complete with carcass carvings, spice and sauce formulation, and different cooking methods to play on natural flavors, with samples along the way.

Rocky Mountain BBQ Showdown

Starting Saturday, May 28th, students can put their knowledge to the test by joining the general public and competitors from across the country at the Rocky Mountain BBQ Showdown. The competition will be hosted on the front lawn of the Stanley Hotel and will include two-days of events, drinks, music, and plenty of amazing BBQ!

Enrollment in the competition is open to all skill levels including amateurs and experts alike. Competitors can enter their best brisket, sausage, beef, pork, and lamb ribs, pork shoulder and chicken to win cash prizes in each category. Contestants can also compete for a People’s Choice award.

All event proceeds benefit the Colorado State University School of Animal Sciences.
