Fire Ban Enacted for All of Boulder County in Wake of Cold Springs Fire
Right now, all open burning is prohibited in Boulder County - no ifs, ands, or buts.
In the wake of the Cold Springs wildfire near Nederland, the Boulder County Sheriff's Office says in an email that all open burning of any kind is not allowed until the ban is rescinded.
The Cold Springs fire has destroyed homes on Bonanza, Sky View, and Sherwood Drives, all of which included an outbuilding each for a total of 6 structures gone. Currently 52 additional structures lie within the 308-acre fire perimeter, 30 of which are homes.
A mandatory evacuation for residents was put in place, and fire crews continue to work in the area.
With a minimum humidity of 10-15% and temperatures between 84 and 88 degrees, conditions are labeled unstable and extremely dry by the BCSO. A projected cold front will come through tomorrow morning, bringing high winds that pose further threat to homes.
