Hit and Run in Fort Collins Sends Bicyclist to Hospital
After 11 last night, Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a car versus bicycle collision on Mulberry Street between Riverside and Lemay Avenues. Witnesses reported a sedan fled the scene and was seen traveling south on Lemay Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found the cyclist, 26-year-old Emily Clark, lying in the left lane of eastbound Mulberry Street. She was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries.
A short time later, Larimer County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of Mulberry Street and Greenfield Court. Deputies arrived to find an occupied 2013 Kia Rio with collision damage. Its driver, 31-year-old Kenneth LeJeune, was not injured and the damage appeared consistent with the bicycle collision as well as additional collisions with signs and other fixed objects in the area.
Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
