Mosquitoes Test Positive for West Nile Virus
Mosquitoes from a trap in southeast Fort Collins, near Timberline
and Carpenter, have tested positive for West Nile virus…
according to officials at the Larimer County Department of Health
and Environment. The positive mosquitoes were collected on June 5.
A mosquito pool trapped in the Greeley/Evans area on Monday has
tested positive for West Nile virus. Health officials want residents to take
precautions against mosquito bites to prevent infection with West Nile virus.
West Nile virus is carried by birds and transmitted by mosquitos that bite the
infected birds. Infected mosquitos transmit the virus to humans, horses, and
