Remembering Prince: The Artist’s Great Foo Fight
Remember when Prince and the Foo Fighters covered each other, and everyone, including the band, was really confused about it? Today, we lost yet another great musical icon, Prince. While we were thinking back about all that he's done, we remembered his interesting musical relationship with our #1 man, Mr. Grohl.
So, here's the scoop for you: According to MTV, on the Australian version of Have It All, the Foo Fighters covered Prince's 1984 song, 'Darling Nikki,' (which you can hear basically nowhere anymore. Why? Because Prince, allegedly, was not as fond of Grohl's work as say, we are.)
MTV also reports that Prince told Entertainment Weekly that the guys should basically stick to their own stuff. OUCH. Prince, you were a firecracker.
But, it's not over. During that remarkable downpour and Super Bowl performance, Prince busted out a cover of 'Best of You' by... who? The FOO FIGHTERS.

Grohl then responded back to Entertainment Weekly, 'I was flattered beyond words. What an honor to be covered by one of your heroes!'
*There goes my herooooo.*
And then there is, of course, the candid Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins, who told MTV, 'Dude, I have no idea why he did it, but I’d love to find out. I mean, the thought went through my head that maybe he was doing it as a sort of ’F— you’ to us, or maybe he really likes the song.'

Moral of this story? We don't know, but we think it's all pretty funny. That, and imitation is the greatest form of flattery... sometimes.
Rest in peace, Prince.
