In January (24, 2016), a 19-year-old freshman attending the University of Northern Colorado (UNC), passed away in the dorms, and the likely cause of death has been released by the coroner. According to the Greeley Tribune, the Weld County Coroner believes the cause of death was several blood clots, resulting of multiple pulmonary emboli. The Mayo clinic defines a pulmonary embolism as "A blockage in one of the pulmonary arteries in your lungs."

Saverio Parker, the UNC student that tragically passes, was from Denver, and was found by his best friends in her dorm room, at Lawrenson Hall. The coroner stated that there were no drugs present in Parker's system.
